What is Florida DR-835 (Power of Attorney)?
Plain English on Florida’s DR-835 form, why RT-6 filers get asked for it, and what you’re actually authorizing.

If somebody else is gonna file your Florida RT-6 / SUTA for you, the state often wants paperwork that says “yep, they can do that.” That’s the DR-835.
DR-835 is Florida’s Power of Attorney / Declaration of Representative form. Fancy name. Pretty simple idea: you let a person or firm talk to the tax folks and file on your behalf for the stuff you listed.
Your not handing over your whole company. Your authorizing specific tax matters. For our work, that usually means reemployment / RT-6 filing help.
People get nervous about POA forms. Fair. Read it. Ask questions. Don’t sign blank stuff. We’ll tell you exactly what sections matter for the filing.
Do you always need it? Not every situation. If we need it to submit for you, we’ll say so up front and send the form. Nothing gets filed without your okay on the return either.
Tip: use the same legal business name and FEIN that’s on your state account. Typos on authorization forms create dumb delays.
