So you missed the RT-6 deadline. Or maybe a few of them. Welcome to a very crowded club.
Florida doesn’t wait around. Late RT-6 (SUTA) filings usually get hit with $25 every 30 days, per return, up to $300. That stacks if your behind on multiple quarters. Its not fun math.
First thing: figure out which quarters your missing. Check your email, your mail, any notices from the state. If your not sure, that’s fine. We can help sort it.
Second: don’t keep putting it off. Waiting almost never makes the bill smaller. File the late returns, stop the new penalty days from piling on.
Third: gather what you can. Wage totals by quarter, employee names if you got em, your FEIN. If records are messy, still reach out. Messy is normal.
You can try the state portal yourself. Some people do. Alot of people get stuck, give up, then call someone like us. No judgment either way.
If you want it handled, tell us how many quarters are late. We prepare the RT-6, you approve it, we file. You’ll probably need to sign a short authorization (DR-835) so we can submit for you. Takes the stress out of it.
Bottom line: late SUTA in Florida is fixable. The longer you wait though, the more those $25 chunks add up.
