Do I still file RT-6 if I had $0 wages?

Yes, often. Here’s when Florida employers still need to file an RT-6 / SUTA return with zero wages.

This one surprises people the most.

You had no payroll that quarter. Nobody on the books. $0 wages. And Florida can still want an RT-6 (SUTA) filed.

If your still registered as a Florida employer for reemployment tax, a zero wage quarter usually still needs a return. Its basically you telling the state: yeah we’re still here, just didn’t pay wages this time.

Common situations: seasonal business, slow months, you let everyone go but didn’t close the account yet, or you hired briefly then paused.

Skipping it because “I didn’t pay anyone” is how folks end up with late notices later. Seen it a bunch.

Filing a zero wage RT-6 is usually simpler than a full payroll quarter. Still gotta do it right though. We file these all the time if you don’t want to mess with it.

If you closed the business or want the account inactivated, that’s a different path. Don’t assume $0 means “ignore it.” Ask first.
